Canterbury Bulldogs Blast Fans for Targeting Well-Known Raiders Fan After Belmore Win

The atmosphere surrounding the Bulldogs’ return to Belmore has taken a negative turn following reports of a Raiders supporter being targeted by rival fans.
The Bulldogs have condemned the behavior of fans who harassed a prominent Canberra Raiders supporter on Sunday after their victory at Belmore Oval. Simon Tayoun, a well-known figure in the NRL community for leading the “Viking clap” celebration, was subjected to inappropriate behavior by Bulldogs supporters as he was leaving the stadium.
Tayoun, who is recognized for his role in celebrating Raiders wins and attends every game, was surrounded by a group of Bulldogs fans. Footage shows him being taunted and physically challenged, including an attempt to bring him down from behind.
In response, the Bulldogs issued a statement on Monday expressing their concern over the incident and offering their apologies to Tayoun. They are currently investigating the matter.
“The Bulldogs are deeply concerned about the incident involving fan behavior toward an opposing team supporter that occurred following our round 22 home match against the Canberra Raiders at Belmore Sports Ground,” the statement read.
“Although the incident happened outside the stadium and after the match, we are disheartened by the display of intimidation and inappropriate conduct directed at another fan. This behavior does not align with the values we uphold as a club.
“While most of our supporters demonstrated sportsmanship, this conduct does not reflect what we stand for.”
